Molly North

Sisterly Advice:

"Get lots of sleep, be kind, and keep trying! You can do hard things! Surround yourself with people who believe in you and support you."

What do you like best about working in STEM?

"It's exciting to work in a field that has a direct impact on people's lives every day. I like to solve problems and think critically. And I like to feel like I am paving the way for even more girls (like my daughters) and women to work in STEM jobs because they see a woman in a position they would want to have."

Sara Ellis

Sisterly Advice:

"Build a network of people who will support and encourage you, both in school and throughout your career. Struggling with a science or math concept doesn’t mean you don’t belong in STEM. Don’t be afraid to seek out resources and ask questions—understanding doesn’t always come right away."

What do you like best about working in STEM?

"The variety of work I’ve been able to do using the critical thinking and problem-solving skills I developed as an engineer. It’s rewarding to create and support tools that help scientists make a positive impact on our environment and health."

Shannon McAvoy

Sisterly Advice:

"You can do hard things. The hard classes, the hard parts of life - that's where you grow the most. You will be smarter and stronger on the other side - just persevere."

What do you like best about working in STEM?

"I love solving problems and helping my clients see value. I also love mentoring/befriending other women so that we can build a strong community of women in spaces that have been traditionally dominated by men."
